Music, Art, and Dance is, was, and will forever be Davis W. Canady, Jr.'s inspirations for his imaginative creations. Who knew that drawing figures and sketching odd creatures into simple line art as a youth would be the start of the lifelong process that is Dancing Davis Creations. 

In the beginning, Davis's parents, bless them both, had great difficulties executing proper discipline upon him as a child. For every time he was to be punished and for good reason, they would send him to his room and whilst there he would happily immerse himself into a doodle, or he would quite contently play for hours on end discovering hidden worlds frozen upon the cratered surface of the bedroom's popcorned ceiling. 

It was an art class in high school where Davis first received his educated experiences using various forms of visual media, paints, sculpture, print, and the like. Shortly after graduating high school, he started employment in Wilmington, NC at a graphics publishing firm where he learned the many ins and outs contained in the world of printing. 

Playing music has always been another favorite time passer for the Hampstead, NC-based artist. "I love sharing musical moments with friends and family but I especially love to hear my partner and best friend Emily sing and strum her guitar. Emily is an amazing flutist too, which is why i started making bamboo meditative flutes and other wind instruments. These sound amazing!" says Davis.

" I have very recently discovered the joys of chainsaw carving and after only a few emergency room visits, I now believe that I'm finally getting the hang of it," Davis says. Living in coastal Eastern NC allows Davis plenty of opportunity and access to a variety of wood knocked down by damaging hurricanes that so often frequent those shores. So, absolutely NO trees were harmed nor wasted for the fruits that are his creative sculptures. Davis goes on to say, "I've whittled wooden spoons and bowls, carved cute cuddly critter statues, and crafted large decorative columns from tree stumps. I have so much fun exploring a piece and somehow helping in harnessing its full visual potential."
